View Article  US leads first round of BMX Supercross world cup

Mike Day and Kyle Bennett placed first and second in the first round of the elite men's time trials qualificiations of the 2007 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup on Monday.

The event is part of the 2007 Good Luck Beijing games, a run-up to the 2008 Summer Olympics.

View Article  US chances for cycling medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics

The 2008 Summer Olympics is still a year away, but people are already considering the US chances for winning gold medals at the games in Beijing.

The US is considered an underdog to China, which has bypassed Russia as the main US challenger. Cycling is one of the areas where the US has good chances for about a half dozen medals from the men and women, however, according to the Boston Globe.

View Article  Cadel Evans wins ITT preview for Beijing Olympics

Tour de France runner-up Cadel Evans won the individual time trial at the 2007 Good Luck Beijing Road Cycling International Invitational on Sunday.

Michael Rogers, Evans' teammate from Australia, finished in second place and Alexandr Dyachenko of Kazakhstan finished third.

Cyclists raced on the same course that will be raced at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The 14.6-mile route on Sunday will be extended for next year's competition.....   more »

The 2008 Summer Olympics are only a year away, and cyclists raced on the bike course Saturday to test the conditions.

Bosisio Gabriele of Italy won the 2007 Good Luck Beijing International Road Cycling Tournament in Beijing.

The 108-mile course follows the same route that cyclists will take in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. However, the course will be longer as three laps will be added to the circuit, making it 152 miles. ...   more »

View Article  Good Luck Beijing bike racing this weekend

Almost one year to the day before road cycling events start at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Road Cycling Invitational Race is running this weekend.

Officials says 18 teams comprising 122 racers will compete according to UCI competition rules. The event includes the men's road group and the men's road individual time trials with the competition quota as six and three for each team respectively.

Among countries sending teams are USA, Russia, Australia, Korea, Chinese Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei. Additionally, Luxembourg, with the smallest participation, sent only one racer and two officials...   more »

View Article  Road cyclists head to China for pre-Olympic racing

Cyclists representing road cycling teams from several countries are traveling to China to participate in Saturday's Good Luck Beijing road race and Sunday's individual time trial.

The race follows the same course that will be biked during the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, which might give some of these riders a leg up and they can check out the course the riding conditions first hand.

Among the particpants are Michael Rogers and Cadel Evans from Australia.  Matt White, of the disbanding Discovery Channel team, will be among the US riders at the event.....   more »

The president of the International Olympic Committee says some events -- including cycling -- might need to be postposed if Beijing's pollution spikes during next year's games.

Pollution is a problem in Beijing, which is said to have some of the worst levels of nitrogen dioxide on the planet.
