Wine Country Century -- May 3, 2008   Four routes through Sonoma County wine country with options for 35 miles, 66 miles, 100 miles, or 130 miles. Limit 2,500; sponsored by Santa Rosa Bicycling Club

Fiesta 150 -- May 3-4, 2008  Two-day ride, bicycling 150 miles from Irvine to Del Mar and back; sponsored by Orange County Wheelmen and Paramount Racing

Grizzly Peak Century -- May 4, 2008  A 100-mile ride up Grizzly Peak in eastern suburbs of San Francisco Bay; leaves from Campolindo High School, Moraga; sponsored by Grizzly Peak Cyclists

Delta Century -- May 4, 2008  Flat 100-mile ride in Central Valley; sponsored by Stockton Bike Club

Central Coast Double Century -- May 10, 2008  The bike ride leaves Paso Robles and climbs into the Santa Lucia Range and down the Salinas Valley; total 209 miles and 13,000 feet of climbing; part of the Triple Crown; there's also a 170-mile Central Coast Challenge

Cruisin' the Conejo -- May 10, 2008  Four routes from 21 to 103 miles that leave from Thousand Oaks; sponsored by Conejo Valley Cyclists

Tour of the Unknown Coast -- May 10, 2008  Bicyclists can tour northern California's remote Humboldt County on routes ranging from 10 to 100 miles

Fresno Cycling Festival -- May 10, 2008   The road cycling part of the festival at Woodward Park features the Washboard 100 (a section of dirt road), with 81- and 67-mile options. Also mountain bike and BMX races. Sponsored by Central Valley Cycling Charitable Association.

Breathe Easy Ride -- May 16-18, 2008  Tour California's Central Coast for this fund-raiser for the American Lung Association. One-day - 62 miles, or three days - up to 172 miles. See also California Ride Calendar for June 2008.

Anderson River Park Century -- May 17, 2008 (register early; check website)  A series of rides -- 100, 60, 40 and 25 miles -- begins at the Anderson city park sitting next to the Sacramento River. Sponsored by the Lions Club.

San Diego Century Bicycle Tour -- May 17, 2008  A 102-, 65- and 37-mile bike ride options are included in this year's Encinitas Sports and Fitness Festival. Bicyclists make their way up Dos Pico Peak on the century ride for a 30-mile descent to the finish. Sponsored by city of Encinitas.

Rotary Wine Country Ride -- May 17, 2008  Bicycle riders can choose four options -- 100 miles, 62 miles, 26.2 miles and 11 miles for the ride through the Santa Ynez Valley. Registration fee and donation goes to sponsors Rotary Clubs of the Santa Ynez Valley and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Monticello Solano Century -- May 18, 2008  Three options of 100, 60, or 25 miles through Solano, Napa and Yolo counties. The century encompasses parts of the Stage 3 of Tour of California. Sponsored by Monticello Cycling Club.

Foothill Century -- May 18, 2008   Billed at the only Kosher bike ride in the West, the event features 62-, 31- and 6-mile bike routes starting in Sunnyvale. Sponsored by the South Peninsula Hebrew Day School.

Great Western Bike Rally -- May 23-26, 2008  The rally over Memorial Day weekend in Paso Robles features 25 bicycling routes for rides of 5 to 100 miles. Although most rides are unsupported, there is a supported century and metric century scheduled on May 27. Also bike swap, vendors, BBQ, etc. Participants to the 44-year-old event can tent camp or RV at the fairgrounds.
