Oregon Bicycle Ride CalendarJune 2008Pioneer Century -- June 7, 2008 Formerly the Spring Century, this bike ride features a 100-mile route around the Champoeg, Canby, and Molalla areas; Portland Wheelmen Touring club 3 Rivers Race -- June 7, 2008 A bike ride around the Grande Ronde Valley in eastern Oregon to raise money to curb domestic violence in Union, Baker and Wallowa counties. Options of 80 or 100 miles (or a foot marathon/half-marathon). This is the 7th year for the event. No Frills Century -- Two rides -- 65 and 100 miles -- leaving Redmond HS, Bend; sponsored by FreshAirSports (no info for 2008 as of 1.20.08)
Strawberry Century Tour -- June 14, 2008 The bike tour features a newly routed 101-mile ride north from Lebanon nearly to Scio and across the Larwood covered bridge. Also 13-, 56- and 76-mile rides along the back roads of Linncounty and the Santiam and Calapooia rivers; sponsored by Santiam Spokes bicycle club Tour de Fronds -- June 14, 2008 Seven bicycle tours from 30 to 140 miles; leaving from Glendale and Powers; sponsored by Umpqua Velo Club Ashland Weekend -- June 22 - 24, 2007 About 50 miles a day from Ashland; during Shakespeare Festival; Portland Wheelmen Touring Club Mountain Lakes Challenge -- June 21, 2008 Three loops -- 27, 58, 97 miles -- leaving from Ashland; sponsored by Siskiyou Velo Malin Metric -- June 21, 2008 A metric 100 bike ride from Klamath Falls to Malin and back. Sponsored by Hutch's Bicycles. The Weekend Ride -- Check August 2008 bike calendar .. Weekend tour cycling in eastern Washington; sponsored by Cycle Oregon. Watermelon Rides -- June 22, 2008 Bicycle tours of 45, 100, 125 and 200 miles (Oregon's original double-century); leaves from Rickreall; sponsored by Salem Bicycle Club Double Dawg Tandem Ride -- June 22, 2008 Tandem and bicycle ride from Bend to Smith Rock State Park and return. Sponsored by Hutch's Bicycles. Willamette Wine & Wheels -- June 28, 2008 The winery tour of the Corvallis area from the Belle Vallee Cellars features two bike ride options of 60 miles (including a stop at the Tyee Winery) and 20 miles (stop at Spindrift Cellars). Barbecue and "Breaking Away" afterwards. It's a fund-raiser for Salud, which provides health care to agricultural laborers. Prairie City Bicycle Invitational -- June 28 - July 6, 2008 Nine different routes offered over a nine-day period, leaving from Prairie City. Not structured or supported in the usual sense, there is no registration or fee payment, but there also is no guarantee of support services on any route or any date. Cyclists are free to choose which route they want to ride; volunteer groups may or may not provide services for fund-raising. See the flyer at Bicycle Invitational. |
