Bike-a-Roo Breakfast Ride -- May 4, 2008 This 25-mile bike ride starts with a pancake breakfast at Shevlin Park. Sponsored by Sunnyside Sports in Bend. Reach the Beach -- May 17, 2008 Five routes -- 26 to 103 miles; begins in different locations, ends in Pacific City; benefits American Lung Association Nifty Fifty -- May 18, 2008 A 50-mile ride from Klamath Falls to Merrill and back. Check Hutch's Bicycles for details. Tour de Hood -- May 17 18, 2008 Two days of bicycling on routes that challenge cyclists on the Mount Hood Cycling Classic. Based in Hood River, the Tour features 89 miles and 42 miles of moutainous cycling, with 9,200 feet of total elevation gain. Benefits LiveStrong Foundation and Mt. Hood Cycling Classic organization. Le Tour de Valley -- May Six routes -- 10 to 100 miles; starting from the Oregon Garden in Silverton; a fund-raiser for Special Olympics; sponsored by the Bergreunde Ski Club of Portland (no info as of 1.20.08) Ride of Silence -- May 21, 2008 Hundreds of bike rides around the world begin at 7 p.m. local time on this date to commemorate cyclists who have died in traffic. Check for local listings. Century Ride of the Centuries -- May 23-26, 2008 (Memorial Day Weekend) Three days of centuries, metric centuries, and half metric centuries around Pendleton; seven big rides in all in eastern Oregon. Southside Ride -- May 25, 2008 A 60-mile round-trip bike ride from Sunriver to Twin Lakes. No long climbs, but rollers. Leaves from Sunriver Thrift Store on Spring River Road. Sponsored by Hutch's Bicycles . Blazing Pedals Fun Bike Ride -- May 31, 2008 This fund-raiser for the Juniper Flat Volunteer Fire Department features bike ride options of 20, 42 and 70 miles in the Maupin - Tygh Valley area.
