Rhody Bike Tour -- May 4, 2008  Metric and half-metric bicycle centuries on Olympic Peninsula; registration online and Haines Place Park and Ride lot, sponsored by Port Townsend Bicycle Association

May Day Metric -- May 4, 2008   Three bicycle rides around the south Sound, comprising 50-, 70-, and 100 miles. Begin and end at Phil's South Side Cyclery in Federal Way. Some proceeds to Bike Washington

Spring Classic Bike Ride -- May 10, 2008   The Skagit Bicycle Club runs these four bike rides through north Skagit and south Whatcom counties. Four routes -- 25, 45, 62, and 100 miles. Go for the famous cookies and spaghetti feed

Olympic Cycling Classic -- May 19, 2007  A metric century and century ride (as well as a new 30-mile ride) in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca; sponsored by Roosevelt Middle School's Parent Teacher Organization; leaves from Port Angeles

Bike to Work Day -- May 16, 2008  Ride your bicycle to work or school; earn free stuff; sponsored by Cascade Bicycle Club and Starbucks

Tour de Cure 2008 -- May 17, 2008  This fund-raiser for the American Diabetes Association features five rides -- 15 to 100 miles -- that leave from Marymoor Park in Redmond. Sign up online at diabetes.org/tour.

Group Health Yakima Ridges -- May 17, 2008  These four bike ride options -- 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles -- benefit the Comprehensive Mental Health Foundation. Yakima. The century features 5,400 feet of climbing. Same weekend as Your Canyon for a Day Bike Tour, below.

Your Canyon for a Day Bike Tour -- May 18, 2008  A 35-mile ride through the Yakima River Canyon, which is closed to through-vehicular traffic that day. Benefits CrimeStoppers. Yakima. Same weekend at Group Health Yakima Ridges, above.

Two-County Double Century -- May 18, 2008  Five cycling loop options -- 20 to 126 miles; leaving from Millersylvania State Park; Capital Bicycle Club

Ride of Silence -- May 21, 2008  A series of memorial bike rides across the US that commemorate bicycle riders who have died in traffic. All the rides start at 7 p.m.  local time. Check the Ride of Silence schedule for rides in your area.

Make the Dash Count -- May 24, 2008  Three bike ride options of 10, 20 and 50 miles also feature winery visits and barbecue. Fund-raiser for at-risk youth. Leaves from Prosser City Park, Prosser.

7 Hills of Kirkland -- May 26, 2008   The 10th annual bike ride features three routes up and over the hills of Kirkland alongside Lake Washington. The options comprise 38 miles, 59 miles and 99 miles. The ride is a benefit for Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing.
