Washington Bicycle Ride CalendarMay 2010Ride Around Clark County -- May 1, 2010 Four bicycle loops -- 18 to 100 miles -- pass plenty of Columbia River basin scenery. Sponsored by Vancouver Bicycle Club Camano Climb -- May 1, 2010 Ride your bike around Camano Island in this 12th annual event. Either 44 miles to go the distance or a shorter 28-mile ride. Scenic views, weather permitting. Presented by Stanwood VeloSport. Rhody Bicycle Tour -- May 2, 2010 The Port Townsend Bicycle Club's ride offers five options of 32, 45, 55 and 62 miles, as well as a 12-mile trail bike ride. Starts at Haines Place Park and Ride in Port Townsend. May Day Metric -- May 2, 2010 Three bicycle rides around the south Sound, comprising 50-, 70-, and 100 miles. Begin and end at Phil's South Side Cyclery in Federal Way. Some proceeds to Bike Washington Bicycle Sundays: Seattle -- May 2, 16, 23 & 30, 2010 Lake Washington Boulevard closed to vehicular traffic from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park. Inland Empire Century -- May 8, 2010 Four bicycle loops -- 25 to 100 miles -- through Lower Yakima and Columbia River Valleys. Utilizes Old Inland Empire Highway, in part. Sponsored by Tri-City Bicycle Club Spring Classic Bike Ride -- May 8, 2010 The Skagit Bicycle Club runs these four bike rides through north Skagit and south Whatcom counties. Four routes -- 25, 45, 62, and 100 miles. Starts at Bayview Elementary School, Burlington. Go for the famous cookies and spaghetti feed. Lewis County Historical Ride -- May 8, 2010 Four bicycling options through rural Lewis County. Views of Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams and Mount Rainier and stops at historic schools and churches. Starts in Chehalis. Presented by Chehalis-Centralia Optimist Club. Urban Assault Ride -- May 16, 2010 Jousting, human-wheel barreling and other contests mark this 11- point obstacle course around Seattle. Sponsored by New Belgium Brewery. Davis Phinney Foundation -- May 16, 2010 Framebuilder and former racer Glenn Erickson is hosting a benefit ride with Team Byrne Event. Training ride of 75 or 63 miles for category racers, and social ride of 33 miles. Leaves from Marymoor Park Velodrome.
Tour de Cure 2010 -- May 22, 2010 This fund-raiser for the American Diabetes Association features five rides -- 15 to 100 miles -- that leave from Marymoor Park in Redmond. Sign up online at diabetes.org/tour. Your Canyon for a Day Bike Tour -- May 23, 2010 The 35-mile bike ride follows scenic Yakima River canyon on a highway closed to cars for the event, so no worries for families. Same-day registration at the Roza Recreation Site at milepost 7 on SR 821. Two-County Double Century -- See June. Ride of Silence -- May 19, 2010 A series of memorial bike rides across the US that commemorate bicycle riders who have died in traffic. All the rides start at 7 p.m. local time. Check the Ride of Silence schedule for rides in your area. Munchen Haus Bike Ride (aka Alefest) -- May 23, 2010 Three options of 50, 75 or 100 miles from Leavenworth through Plain and the Wenatchee National Forest. Raises money for cancer research. Check-in at Leavenworth. Columbia Gorge Explorer 2010 -- May 28-30, 2010 A Memorial Day weekend ride averaging about 60 miles a day through Washington and Oregon. Starts and end in Vancouver. No sag support. Presented by Portland Wheelmen. Make the Dash Count -- May 29, 2010 Bike ride is part of a walk/run challenge. Leaves from Prosser City Park, Prosser. 7 Hills of Kirkland -- May 31, 2010 The 11th annual bike ride features three routes up and over the hills of Kirkland alongside Lake Washington. The options comprise 38 miles, 59 miles and 99 miles. The ride is a benefit for Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing.
