Washington Bike Ride CalendarSeptember/October/November/December 2012Great Northwest Fall Tour --
Sept. 2, 2012 Easy and challenging routes are offered in this bike tour of northeastern Washington state. The ride starts in Newport City Park and features rides of 15, 30, 50 or 85 miles. The 50- and 85- mile bike routes feature climbing. Benefits the Newport/Priest River Rotary Club. Perimeter Ride of Seattle (PROS) -- September Cyclists of Greater Seattle offers two distances -- 80 and 56 miles -- for the 6th annual perimeter ride. Both leave at 8 a.m. from the Discovery Park north parking lot. Cyclists ride in groups, but otherwise unsupported. Snack stop in Tukwilla and buy-your-own lunch in Leschi. Emerald City Lights Bike Ride -- September 8, 2012 Three bicycling options of 18, 30, or 65 miles leaving from the Auburn Game Farm Park. A benefit ride for people in need. Golden Valley Bike Ride -- September 10, 2011 (Canceled in 2011 due to smoke and wildfires) The fourth annual ride in 2011 explores the hills and canyons of Klickitat County between Goldendale and Glenwood on the dry side of the Cascades. Four options of 33, 43, 63 and 103 miles. Presented by the Soroptimist International of Goldendale. Olympic Bike Adventure -- September 50 miles of cycling on the off-road Olympic Discovery Trail, beginning at the City Pier in Port Angeles and east to Sequim and back. Also 10 and 25 distances. A fund-raiser for the Boys & Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula and Port Angeles Parks and Rec MS 150 Bike Tour: Mount Vernon -- September 8-9, 2012 MS 150 Bike Tour in Western Washington; daily mileage options. One leaves from Mount Vernon in western Washington. Benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. (Also rides in Alaska and Idaho.) Festival 542 Mount Baker Hill Climb -- September Grueling and scenic bike ride up the Mt. Baker Highway. 4,300 feet of climbing in about 25 miles on Sept. 11. Recreational or competitive options. Leaves from Glacier. Must register in advance; other activities planned that weekend Tour de Kids TEAM USA Seattle Children's Classic -- September Rides of 25, 60 and 100 miles start on Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle. Benefits Childred's Hospital of Seattle. SpokeFest -- September 9, 2012 Family bike ride that features a 1-mile ride around Riverfront Park or 21-mile bike ride through Riverside State Park. Food, music and entertainment. Based in Spokane. High Pass Challenge -- September 9, 2012 Breathtaking 114-mile ride through the Gifford Pinchot Wilderness Area, including the Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument; 7,500-foot elevation gain. Starts in Packwood. Sponsored by Cascade Bicycle Club. Cascade Spawning Cycle -- September A free ride run in conjunction with the Bicycle Sundays event on Lake Washington Boulevard starting at Seward Park in Seattle. Presented by Cascade Bicycle Club in conjunction with Restore Our Waters. Trek Tri Island -- September This bike tour leaves via the Anacortes ferry and visits San Juan, Orcas and Lopez islands; fund-raiser for American Lung Association WaCanId Ride -- Sept. 17-22, 2012 A 340-mile, fully supported bike tour on the International Selkirk Loop encompasses parts of Washington, Idaho and British Columbia. Riders can begin in three locations -- Sandpoint, ID, Creston or Nelson, BC. Presented by Rotary Clubs of the Selkirk Loop. Seek Justice Challenge -- September A metric century and metric half-century that includes rides around Lake Sammamish and through the Carnation Valley. This is a fund-raiser for the International Justice Mission. Sponsored by the Sammamish Presbyterian Church. Hot Springs Express -- September 14-16, 2012 Bike tour from Magnuson Park in Seattle, to Harrison Hot Springs in British Columbia, and return. 107 miles the first day, 71 miles the second. Presented by the Redmond Cycling Club. Soldier Ride -- September A fund-raiser for the Wounded Warrior Project, the bike ride also helps tro restore physical and emotional well-being as well as give the public an opportunity to ride alongside and honor men and women who have served in the military. Seattle area. Chuckanut Century Bicycle Ride -- September 16, 2012 The northern Washington bike ride event features five options from 25 to 124 miles (double metric century), including a standard 100-miler. Sponsored by the Mount Baker Bike Club in Bellingham. Cycle the WAVE -- September 16, 2012 An all women's bike ride benefiting the Eastside Domestic Violence Program. Meets at Tibbett's Valley Park in Issaquah. Rotary in Motion Ride -- September The bike ride tours the Spokane Valley with routes ranging from 100 miles to a 5-mile family fun ride. Based in Liberty Lake between Spokane and the Idaho border, the 100-mile course features some challenging climbs, the 50-mile follow Hauser Lake, and the 15- and 25-mile rides use the Centennial Trail. Benefits Rotary International. Tour des Lacs -- (2010 was the last year for this bike ride) Spokane to Coeur d’Alene and back using various routes -- 40 to 122 miles each day. Includes meals and luggage transport, but participants set up overnight accommodations; sponsored by Group Health Gran Fondo -- September A choice of three bicycle rides through wine country around Walla Walla to benefit people with cancer. Distances are 22, 30, and 60 miles. Starts from Walla Walla Community College; a Providence St. Mary Medical Center event Tour de Whidbey -- September 22, 2012 The bike ride features mileage options of 10, 28, 40, 50 60 or 100 miles. There's also the pancake breakfast, well-stocked rest stations and post-ride chili feed. Most rides start at Greenbank Farm. Registration opens March. This is a fund-raiser for Whidbey General Hospital Foundation. Ride4US -- September Four bicycle loops of 5, 31, 62 and 100 miles from Fort Defiance Park in Tacoma; a fund-raiser (Ride for Ultra Sound) to buy ultrasound equipment for hospitals
Kitsap Color Classic -- September 30, 2012 Take the ferry over to the Kitsap Peninsula from Edmonds and choose among 7 bike route options of 14 to 64 miles (flat or hilly); Cascade Bicycle Club. Dam2Dam -- (canceled in 2010) Thumbs Up bike tour includes 25-, 50-, and 100-mile loops from East Wenatchee. Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond rode the event in 2006. The event is a fund-raiser for Mike Utley Foundation Methow Fall Bike and Film Festival -- Oct. 1-3, 2010 Cross-country races, road rides (35, 70 or 100 miles), mountain bike rides and clinics all based in Winthrop. Presented by Methow Valley Sport Trails Association. Ellensburg Manastash Metric/Half Century -- October 1, 2011 Two routes through rolling terrain around Ellensburg. The 66-miler includes a steep climb that the 33-mile route avoids. Sponsored by the United Way of Kittitas County. Bicycle Alliance of Washington Auction -- October 22, 2011 A fund-raiser for the statewide bicycle advocacy group. Appetizers, northwest beers, seated dinner, silent and live auctions. Fisher Pavilion at the Seattle Center. Cranksgiving -- Nov. 19, 2011 A bike ride to collect food for Rainier Food Bank. Participants follow a course, buying food along the way. Cascade Lights and Reflectors Extravaganza -- Dec. 1, 2011 See how your lights or reflectors stake up against other cyclists. Cascade Bicycle Club provides high and low beams from a car, participants roll through in their flashiest get-ups for night commuting.
