RedSpoke -- July 13-17, 2011 Five-day, 300-mile fully supported bicycle tour from Redmond to Spokane; Rotary Club of Redmond "With My Own Two Wheels" -- July 16, 2011 A film showing the importance of the bicycle from the point of view of five people from around the globe. REI - Seattle. Tickets from Brown Bag Tickets. Presented by Cascade Bicycle Club. Seattle to Spokane -- July 16, 2011 This one-day ultra-endurance ride is similar to the Cannonball (see June calendar), but follows the more difficult route along US Highway 2. 284 miles. Presented by Redmond Cycling Club. Kent Tastic -- July 17, 2011 Emerald City Lights presents two bike ride options of 25 or 60 miles beginning in downtown Kent. Part of Kent's Cornucopia Days events. Takes in Sumner, Interurban, and Cedar River trails. Fund and food raiser. New ride. Cyclefest -- July 22, 2011 As always, the Cyclefest Outdoor Cinema at Warren Magnuson Park in Seattle features the best stage of the Tour de France (Stage 17) shown on the silver screen. Festivities start at 5 p.m. with Bike Mania and kids' events. Cyclefest 7-11 p.m. Plenty of food and beer. Sponsored by Cascade Bicycle Club. Seattle Gran Fondo -- July 23, 2011 Not exactly in Seattle, the ride begins in Kingston on the Kitsap Peninsula and winds through 30, 70 or 100 miles of roadway. A Super Gran Fondo, limited to 500 riders, breaks off from the other routes at Port Angeles and takes a timed ride up a closed-course to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. Presented by Echelon Gran Fondo, it's a fund-raiser for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. New ride in 2011 Eastgate Advocacy Ride -- July 26 A 9-mile bike ride from Enatai Beach Park to the Sunset Trailhead and back to show transportation planners the need to make this corridor more bicycle friendly. Held in conjuction with Cascade Bicycle Club and the Mountains to Sound Greenway Foundation. Meet at Enatai Beach Park for 5:30 departure. More details on the Eastgate Land-use and Transportation Project at City of Bellevue website.RAMROD -- July 28, 2011 Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day; 154 miles, 10,000 feet of elevation gain; registration for lottery March 1 - 31, 2011; announcement April 12. Check website in mid-February for more information Bark Fooey -- July 29-30, 2011 A two-day Seattle to Vancouver bike tour with an overnight in the Bellingham area. Limited to 40 cyclists. Generally follows the RSVP route. Luggage sag to Bellingham and Vancouver; participants have to arrange transportation home. Tour de Whatcom -- July 30, 2011 Three mileage options for this bike ride -- 25, 50 and 105 miles. Starts in Bellingham and tours rivers and lakes while in sight of snow-capped Mount Baker. Fund-raiser for Boys and Girls Clubs of Whatcom County. Seattle Century -- July 30, 2011 The Seattle Century offers 50 and 100-mile options. Starts at Magnuson Park in Seattle and hits all the highlights on the Eastside, including a sidetrip to Snoqualmie Falls. Organized by Good Sport Promotion, Portland. Tour de Fat -- July 31, 2010 (Not coming in 2011) New Belgium Brewery returns for a day of bicycling activities, music and shows at Gas Works Park in Seattle. Tour de Kitsap -- July 31, 2011 Scenic loops of 12, 30, 65 and 100 miles around Kitsap County; leaves from Silverdale; sponsored by West Sound Cycling Club. |
