Tour de Cure – Orange County — November 2, 2013 Starts in Aliso Viejo. Five options — 8-, 25, and 66-mile road rides and 10- and 20-mile mountain bike rides. Fund-raiser for American Diabetes Foundation.
Solvang Prelude — November 3, 2012 An early prep ride for March’s Solvang Century. Features 25, 50 and 65 mile routes through the Santa Ynez Valley, leaving from Solvang. Benefits SCOR Cardiac Cyclists Club. Presented by SCOR Cardiac Cyclists.
Tour de Julian — November 3-4, 2012 Two road routes — 28 and 55 miles — begin at the Frank Lane Park in Julian on Nov. 3. The longer route takes in Mount Laguna with a view of the Anza Borrego Desert. Mountain biking on Nov. 4. Sponsored by the Julian Chamber of Commerce.
Giro d’ Vino — November 4, 2012 The two routes — 31, and 62 miles — celebrate the Central Valley wine region; ride starts at Woodbridge Winery in Acampo. Sponsored by Velo Delta Cycling and Stockton Bicycle Club.
Le Tour de Foothills — November 10, 2012 A century ride joins the traditional metric century and metric half-century loops from Memorial Park in Upland. Routes includes San Gabriel Mountains and Inland Empire. Lunch and raffle at the finish. Sponsored by Upland Chamber of Commerce.
Palm Desert Century – Nov. 10, 2012 Three options of 100, 50 or 25 miles leaving from Palm Desert. Visits Chiriaco Summit. Shadow Tours.
Solvang’s Finest Century – November 10, 2012 One hundred miles around Solvang. Presented by Planet Ultra; supports the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
Bicycle John’s Holiday Benefit Ride – December Bring a new, unwrapped toy or a $15 check made out to “Palmdale Sheriff’s Booster” to ride either the metric century or 40-mile route from Bicycle John’s bike store in Acton. It’s a fund-raiser for area military families and other families in need. Sponsored by Bicycle John’s and the Palmdale Sheriff’s Department. Check the “races and rides” at the website in December.
Lighthouses: The Palos Verdes Coastline and Historic San Pedro — Dec. 9, 2012 This 50-mile bike ride starts at Playa del Rey at the west end of Convoy Street at Pacific Avenue in Los Angeles. Presented by Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition.
Borrego Springs Century — Dec. 16, 2012 Choose 30, 64 or 100 miles in southern California desert. Begins at Palm Canyon Resort in Borrego Springs.
