California Bicycle Ride Calendar — September

 Updating to 2018

Breathe Bike Trek (Emigrant Trails Bike Trek) — Sept. 7-9, 2018 Three days of cycling in the Petaluma area. A fund-raiser for Breathe-California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails.

California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour Sept. 22-29, 2018 A fund-raiser bike ride for the Arthritis Foundation. Two options — 6-day, 355-mile ride from San Francisco to Buellton or if your schedule permits, an 8-day, 525 mile ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Mammoth Gran Fondo (formerly Mammoth High Sierra Fall Century) — Sept. 8, 2018 A gran fondo and century bike ride tours the east side of the Sierra Nevada from Mammoth Lakes. It also has views of Mono Lake and White Mountains. Options of 30, 45, 60 and 100 miles

Amtrak Century — Sept. 8, 2018 A 100-mile bike ride from Irvine to San Diego with a return by private Amtrak train. Presented by the Orange County Wheelmen. (“Pirate” riders not welcomed.)

Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle — Sept. 8, 2018 A bike tour with three options — 100, 62, or 15 miles — to support those with intellectual disabilities. The long bike route goes from Carmel to San Simeon; others along Pacific Coast as well

Ride 2 Defeat Diabetes (R2D2) — (2018 TBA)  Sept. 10, 2017 Route options of 10, 25 and 60 miles for participants for this bike ride benefiting diabetes programs at the NorthBay’s Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology. Starts at VacaValley Hospital, 1000 Nut Tree Road, Vacaville.

Siskiyou Century — (2018 TBA) Sept. 9, 2017 Three bicycle rides — comprising 37, 64 and 100 miles — that leave from Yreka. The century boasts 4,600 feet of elevation gain over Forest and Gazelle mountains. Sponsored by the Yreka Rotary Club. (“5 Things You Should Know About the Siskiyou Century Bicycle Tour”)

Tour de Tahoe — Sept. 9, 2018 A 72-mile bicycle tour around Lake Tahoe that starts at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe (formerly Horizon Casino) on Highway 50, Stateline, South Shore Lake Tahoe, Nevada

V3Hopfest (formerly Veterans Victory Velo) — Sept. 15, 2018  Three route options of 15, 30, 60, or 100 miles through the foothills of Mount Diablo and the San Ramon and Livermore valleys. Benefits the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation and the Dougherty Valley/San Ramon Rotary Foundation. Followed by Hopfest with 20 craft brews, food trucks, and more. Presented by Dougherty Valley/San Ramon Rotary Club.

Unknown Coast Weekend Sept. 15, 2018 The two-day 100-mile trip visits the coastal towns of Ferndale, Honeydew and Petrolia. Includes bike riding along the Eel River and through the Avenue of the Giants. Sponsored by the Chico Velo Cycling Club.

Mother Lode CenturySept. 20, 2017 Three ride options through the foothills of the California gold country: Motherlode – 94 miles (with an optional 6-mile loop); Gold Nugget Plus – 81 miles; Gold Nugget — 64 miles; and Gold Dust -28 miles. Partners with  Friends of El Dorado Trails to build a trail from South Lake Tahoe to Folsom.

Palo Alto Ride — (2018 TBA) Sept. 24, 2017 This bike ride offers options of 32 and 50 miles leaving from Terun Plaza in Palo Alto. Post-ride gourmet food and wine

Bike-toberfest — (2018 TBA) Sept. 23, 2017 Mountain bike and road bike rides, as well as cyclo-cross races, are offered to those visiting the Bike-toborfest Festival in McCloud, in northern California. Rides use both public and rural roadways, including the Great Shasta Rail Trail and finish in downtown McCloud at the Bike-toberfest Festival. Also live music, brats, beer and a variety of craft booths.

Bike MS – Waves to Wine — Sept. 23-34, 2017  A two-day bike journey b.etween San Francisco and Healdsburg, California.

Ride with the Tide (formerly Rat Beach Bike Tour) —  Three distances — 62, 31 and 15.5 miles — start from the cliffs overlooking Torrance Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Support charities of the South Bay Sunrise Rotary Club.

BORP Revolution Ride — Sept. 23, 2017 Five routes offered through the Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley to raise money for adaptive sports and recreation programs. Options of 5K to 65 miles. Starts at Trentadue Winery in Geyserville. Presented by Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program in Berkeley

Napa Ride to Defeat ALS —  Sept. 23, 2017 Five bike rides options — 12, 27,  Metric and Advanced Metric centuries, and a 100-miler — leaving Yountville. Cyclists will ride through the Napa Valley during grape harvest season, followed by a gourmet lunch, free hot showers, live music and wine tasting at the finish. Fund-raising for ALS is optional.

Santa Clarita Gran Fondo — Sept. 29, 2018 Featuring 100, 60 and 20 mile routes, this bicycle ride travels through the hills and mountains of Santa Clarita Valley.

Rosarito Ensenada — Sept. 30, 2017 A 50-mile bike ride along the Pacific Coast from Rosarito Beach to Ensenada in Baja California. Mostly flat along the coast, there is a climb to the inland portion of the course.


Central Coast Classique –  Supporting Uniformed Officers and Armed Forces (California) — Sept. 30, 2017 Cyclists can choose from three options — 100, 64 and 30 miles — for the bike ride that begins at Arroyo Grande (San Luis Obispo County) and passes vineyards in the Edna Valley with a turnaround at Avila Beach.. Winery discounts offered at rest stops. Presented by Creative Meditation and San Luis Obispo Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation (SLOLEAF).

Levi’s GranFondo — Sept. 30, 2017 A chance for all levels of bicyclists to ride with Leipheimer and some of his pro friends. Leaves from Santa Rosa and visits the Sonoma coast, redwoods and vineyards. Three options of 40, 65 and 104 miles. This is a fund-raiser for several local charities and the Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing. Register ASAP!

    Some bicyclists going through Valley Center, California continue to violate trespassing laws. Show no respect for private property or roads. Disgusting. Arrogant pricks.

    9/23/17 McCloud Bike-toberfest: McCloud, CA. A variety of mountain bike and road bike rides, plus the ever-popular cyclo-cross races.
