Trek is recalling 4,500 helmets made in China under the brands Anthem C Elite and Anthem C Elite WSD, reports the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Although no injuries have been reported from use of these helmets, the CPSC says they do not comply with CPSC safety standards for impact resistance and an injury could result in an accident.
Consumers should stop using the helmets immediately, and return them for a full refund at a Trek dealer.
The helmets sold for about $129 at authorized Trek dealers from October 2005 to May 2006.
