Ride the Fault — The 7-day bicycle tour loop visits areas of four states hit by the 1812 New Madrid earthquake. Starts and ends in Sikeston, Mo. The route is changing for 2018, dropping Arkansas and adding southern Illinois. Routes in Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky remain. Mostly flat route with occasional hills on a couple of days to provide scenic variety. Dates: June 2-9, 2018. (Registration opens Dec. 1, 2017)
Grand Illinois Bike Tour — A supported bike ride on central Illinois that visits locations with historical connections to Abraham Lincoln. Starts and ends in Clinton, with overnight stops in Lincoln, Springfield (2 nights) and Decatur (2 nights). Options allows 200 to 370 miles of bicycling. Sponsored by Ride Illinois, a bike advocacy organization. Dates: June 10-15, 2018. (Limited to 225 cyclists, first-come, first-served)
Bicycle Illinois (formerly Bicycllinois) routes cyclists over about 550 miles of road. The ride leaves from Cairo and ends in Chicago, with overnight stops in Carbondale, Centralia, Effingham, Champaign and Kankanee. Dates: Aug. 18-25, 2018.
Route 66: The Mother Road Westward — An eight-week self-contained bike tour from Chicago to Santa Monica. Offered by the Adventure Cycling Association. Dates: Sept. 9-Oct. 29, 2018
