Sojourn 2013 – Rails to Trails Conservancy returns to the Great Allegheny Passage for its annual Greenway Sojourn bike ride. Bicyclists leave Pittsburgh and head to Cumberland, Md., by traveling the route of the abandoned railway. Dates: June 23-27, 2013. (Registration opens mid-November 2012.)
Xpedition G.A.P. – Ride from Pittsburgh to Cumberland on the Great Allegheny Passage. Riders will receive breakfast and dinner, gear shuttle, camping and showers, rest stops and return transportation to Pittsburgh. Freedom Flyer — Meeting up in Washington DC, the bike tour starts with an Amtrak ride to Philadelphia. The 335-mile fully supported bike ride includes paved and dirt routes and visits to Valley Forge as well as other historic sites. Dates: June 26 – July 4, 2013.
C&O Canal/GAP– This is a fully supported bike ride along the canal to Cumberland and then along the GAP rail-to-trail bike path to Pittsburgh. Camping and indoor accommodations. Offered by Adventure Cycling Association. Dates: Sept. 28 – Oct. 5, 2013.
