Train, and they will come.

Lance Armstrong devotees are flocking to the Southern California town of Solvang this month to get autographs and watch the six-time Tour de France bicycle race champion train.

Lance and his new team, Discovery Channel Pro Cycling, are staying in Solvang and riding the hilly roads to prepare for the upcoming bicycle racing season.

LA Times staff writer Jeff Gottlieb writes that fans watch and take pictures from the roadside and follow the bicycle peloton on bikes and in cars.

Solvang has been a big draw for bicyclists long before Lance started training there. It's the home of the Solvang Century, which has drawn hundreds of cyclists to the town every spring since 1983. This year's ride is March 12.
