Here’s a whimsical moment of two generations sharing some fun on bicycles.

The photo — entitled “Flying” — won the People Powered Movement photo contest from the Alliance for Biking and Walking announced Thursday.

Spokane photographer Rachel Schell snapped the image at Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane, Wash. As the overall grand prize winner out of 1,700 photos submitted, she wins a 10-day bike trip to Tuscany, Italy from VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations.

Second place went to Liv Ames of San Jose for a photo entitled “Vancouver Foot Traffic,” and Russell Roca won third for his image “Biking Family.”

Winners in other categories included Kyle Gradinger in Advocates in Action, Jane Healy for Biking, Liv Ames again for Diversity, Alexander Labayen for Biking and Walking, Bethany Heemyer for Open Streets, John Lutton for Women, and Cheryl Burnette in Walking category.

I noticed some fellow bloggers, in addition to Roca (Path Less Pedaled), received recognition. Randy Rasa of Kansas Cyclist received 2nd in the Biking category, and Richard Masoner of Cyclelicious also received 2nd in Advocates in Action.

You can see the winning photos at Alliance for Biking and Walking and in the March/April issue of Momentum magazine, available now.
