Bike stolen in sausage link and wrench attack

Unfortunately, bicycle thefts are so commonplace that they don’t deserve mention. This one is an exception.

A Brockton, Massachusetts, man was hospitalized on Sunday after he was attacked by a man wielding sausage links and a wrench.

The victim told police that he was riding his bicycle on Sunday morning when “a man came up to him and starting swinging sausage links at him,” Lt. David Dickinson told the Brockton Enterprise.

The victim had no idea why he was being attacked. The man then threw the links, bread and cheese into a nearby barrel and started hitting him with a wrench.

That knocked the victim off the bike and cut him up. His assailant took a ring and chain from the man, and jumped on his bike to make an escape. A passing jogger notified police, who soon found and arrested a man with a wrench in his pocket and blood on his hands and clothing.

Police later determined the sausage was stolen from the Brockton Fairgrounds where someone had broken into a storage locket.

The assailant was arrested and charged with with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a wrench; armed robbery; disturbing the peace; disorderly conduct; and receiving stolen property under $250.
