Giant Bicycle is recalling 76 Sedona and Cypress brand bicycles.

According to a press release, the rear axle of the bikes is harder than required in specifications and could crack. No injuries have been reported.

The bicycles that are subject to recall were made in China and sold in dealerships after mid-May 2005 for about $300.

A list of serial numbers is available at the Giant Bicycle website. Anyone with an affected bicycle should call Giant's US distributor, toll-free, at (866) 458-2555 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific time.

The recall is being handled in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

  1. Can not find any of the any of the serial numbers on the Giant web sight for the recall. Have left message on their 866-458-2555 and no response. How do I find out serial numbers? My axle did break on 3/28/2013 and the serial # is GQ226512.

  2. I hope that axle break didn’t cause a fall.

This is an old recall, so they might have taken down that information. Here’s the original press release from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission…

If your bike wasn’t involved in the recall, then you might have a problem worth noting to the product safety agency. Their phone number is 800-638-2772 and you can leave a message.
