Ride Ataxia SoCal March 4, 2017 Features route options of 3.5 and 9 miles, for people of all abilities, through Sierre Madre. Benefits the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, which is researching a cure for the debilitating, life-shortening neuro-muscular disorder. Outback Steakhouse provides post-ride food.
Solvang Century and Half-Century — March 10, 2018 One of the nation’s premier bicycle century rides, held annually since 1983. The century is actually 104 miles long with 5,000 feet of elevation gain. The bike ride is limited to 5,500 cyclists. Two “half centures” at 50 miles and 63 miles. Check for early registration deadline. Funds raised by the ride go to heart-related charities and other nonprofits. Sponsored by the SCOR Cardiac Cyclists Club.
Joshua Tree Double Century — March 10, 2018 A 125-mile (double metric century) or 195-mile bike tour through the Joshua Tree National Monument. Leaves from 29 Palms.
Redlands R.U.F.F. Ride — March 24, 2018 Four distance options of 5 to 62 miles to raise money for Redlands dog park. Longer rides wind through the foothills. Presented by Redlands Unleased Fidos and Friends held in conjunction with the Redlands Bicycle Classic.
Saddleback Spring Classic Gran Fondo — March 24, 2018 Five options of 1 mile to 100 miles are offered on this bike tour around Orange County. Starts at Irvine Valley College in Irvine. Raises funds for finding a cure for pediatric cancer.
CicLAvia the Valley — (see April) An on-road route from Culver City to Venice will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic so bicyclists and pedestrians can enjoy the street. The free event runs from 9 to 4.
Bikes & Beers San Diego — TBA A 26-mile ride that stops at four breweries along the way. Starts at Mike Hess Brewing on University Avenue. Benefits Bike San Diego.
