Team Slipstream/ Chipotle got some more mountain muscle with the signing of Discovery Channel's Tom Danielson this week.

He joins David Zabriskie and Christian Vande Velde (both of Team CSC) from the US and the UK's David Millar (Saunier Duval) on a team that appears to be filling the void of the departure of the pro cycling team sponsored by Discovery.

Team director Jonathan Vaughters, himself a former member of the US Postal Service team, told the Denver Post that Danielson “is a big natural talent. He went to Discovery and got caught up in the whole 'Next Lance Armstrong' thing, which he is not.”

Danielson is a mountain climbing specialist and won the 2005 Tour de Georgia.

The Durango Herald, Danielson's hometown newspaper, reports:

“Slipstream has 30 cyclists on its roster, including the aforementioned cyclists and recent additions Daniel Martin of Ireland, Magnus Backstedt of Sweden and Julian Dean of New Zealand. Danielson's former teammate on Saturn, Will Frischkorn, also is a member of Slipstream.”

Meanwhile, Discovery's Levi Leipheimer and George Hincapie have yet to announce teams, although they're being sought out.
