Bicycling fans will be cruising on down to the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal this weekend for the 2012 Seattle Bicycle Expo.

Presented by the Cascade Bicycle Club, the annual event features some 200 exhibitors as well as speakers, demonstrations and performers.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Price is $10 for a 1-day pass and $12 for both days; Cascade members get a $2 discount and children 15 and under get in free.

A brief list of speakers includes (see the schedule):

Geoff Drake talks about his book about American cycling Team 7-Eleven, along with team member Ron Hayman;

Author Mark Johnson discusses his new book, “Argyle Armada: Behind the Scenes of the Pro Cycling Life.” He spend the 2011 season with the Garmin-Cervelo cycling team.

Bicycle advocates Mia Birk, Amy Walker, Elly Blue and Ulrike Rodrigues;

Local resident and worldwide bike traveler Willie Weir talks about some of his experiences.

Entertainment will be provided by the Ride & Glide Pro BMX Stunt Team and A Unicycle Built for Two, Nick Hayden and Wendy Allen performing on a single unicycle.

The Expo has set aside a special area for mountain bikers called the Dirt Zone, and the Classic Lightweight Bike Show returns with many amazing old bikes.

The Cascade booth features some do-it-yourself projects, such as making your own tool roll, bicycle cap, scraper bike, and reflective vest.

There’s also a Kid’s Zone to keep the children entertained.

Here are directions to the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal; I’d recommend getting there by bicycle. You avoid the cost of parking, gasoline and the walk to the terminal. Anyway, it’s all about bicycling and you’d get in a nice ride.
