Where to watch the Giro d’Italia bike race

The three-week Giro d’Italia got underway on Saturday with a victory by US cyclist Taylor Phinney, at 21 only the third American ever to wear the maglia rosa.

Once again, the Universal Sports Network is providing live coverage of the Giro d’Italia. Unfortunately, it might be a little hard to find.

The network is carried by satellite carriers DISH and DIRECTV and a few cable providers, although that was limited when Comcast pulled out. (Comcast carried the network for the past couple of years, at least in the Seattle area.) You can check for cable coverage in your area by checking this link at Universal Sports Network.

The Universal Sports Network also is offering live streaming coverage at its website for $19.95. Check http://universalsports.com/category/cycling/ for details.

In addition, NBCSports, formerly VS., is offering one-hour coverage of the first two stages beginning at 2 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
