Trek and the Consumer Product Safety Commission are urging owners to stop using the bikes and contact dealers for a free replacement seat post. Trek says there have been two reports of broken seat posts, but no injuries.

The recall involves the Trek 9.8 Superfly FS SL, X1 and XT bicycles equipped with Bontrager Approved Carbon seatposts. Recalled bikes have serial numbers ending in J or K. (The serial number is located on the underside of the bike frame.)

The bikes are made in Taiwan and were sold from September 2014 to July 2015 in the US for $5,300 for the FS SL and $3,500 for the X1 and XT models.

See the CPSC press release for more information, or call Trek at 800-373-4594 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the website and click on “safety and recalls” at the bottom of the page.
