Today, most recreational bicyclists target the goal as they become …

Good weather for weekend STP; avoiding congestion at the start

With pleasant weather forecast for this weekend’s Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic, the gnarliest part of the ride just might be getting to the starting line.

An official 10,000 cyclists could be leaving the University of Washington parking lot early Saturday morning for the 202.5-mile one-, or two-day bike ride to Portland’s Holladay Park.

Factor in the closure of the Route 520 bridge from Friday night through Monday morning, and you have a stressful start to the ride …

Seattle to Portland (STP) registration reopens on Monday

Don’t be left out this year. The Cascade Bicycle Club is reopening online registration for the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic at 12:01 a.m. (that’s one minute after midnight) on Monday.

The popular 200-mile bike ride from Seattle to Portland sold out on Feb. 21 this year when the last of 10,000 registrations were snatched up.
